The true story of the internet

The greater minds of modern society often claim that they have created an object in existence that might help the current community and hopefully will develop as the years go by.

One of the greatest inventions of all time were the internet. It was first claimed to be invented by the man himself Al Gore and he  stated that he took the initiative to create the internet. He promoted the Internet's development both as a senator and the vice president of the United States of America. With this a couple of students from the University of Illinois have created the very first browser called the Mosaic that sparked the developments of today's technology resulting of which a technological wildfire. However, in order for mosaic to succeed they needed a heaping pile of cash to start with as the capital foundation to their booming organisation.

With all these developments came along chaos. In the internet world they called it the browser wars. It is the competition to acquire browser dominance with the usage of users around the globe. The first browser war that occurred was between Microsoft's Internet Explorer and the Netscape Navigator during the late 1990's. It wasn't anything like computer geeks in medieval costumes with foam swords swinging at each other, it was more like Bill Gates the CEO and owner of Microsoft smacking Netscape to the face with a heaping pile of cash with the line stating that if they don't sell their company to Microsoft they will destroy them in the market.

Today, the browser wars still continue between google chrome, mozilla firefox, safari and opera.

Bitrates

Another piece of work that the class had to submit were different types of network items or casualties. Mine were to collect ideas about Bit rates and present them to the class. My presentation consists of how there is an abbreviation for bit rates which is Bps or bits per second or as the variable R. Basically, bit rates is the amount bits per second transmitted along a digital network.

Here is the link to my prezi in which I explained what bit rates are and where they come into use.

BITRATES IN VIDEO FILES

Remember that 1 byte consists of 8 bits. Video data rates are given in bits per second. The data rate for a video file is the bitrate. So a data rate specification for video content that runs at 1 megabyte per second would be given as a bitrate of 8 megabits per second (8 mbps). The bitrate for an HD Blu-ray video is typically in the range of 20 mbps, standard-definition DVD is usually 6 mbps, high-quality web video often runs at about 2 mbps, and video for phones is typically given in the kilobits (kbps). For example, these are the targets we usually see for H.264 streaming:

LD 240p 3G Mobile @ H.264 baseline profile 350 kbps (3 MB/minute)
LD 360p 4G Mobile @ H.264 main profile 700 kbps (6 MB/minute)
SD 480p WiFi @ H.264 main profile 1200 kbps (10 MB/minute)
HD 720p @ H.264 high profile 2500 kbps (20 MB/minute)
HD 1080p @ H.264 high profile 5000 kbps (35 MB/minute)

Menu driven interface

As a part of our ITGS course, we we're instructed to create our personal MDI or the so called Menu driven interface. A menu driven interface can be anything ranging from ATM machines, mobile phones, iPods etc. I chose to create an ATM MDI just because (young money, cash money).

Having to customize my preferences for an ATM machine. It obviously had the usual things you would find in an ATM machine, for example a withdrawal button, a page where you can check your balance etc.

Although it might look a little childish to you
below is my presentation or should I say my customized ATM Interface.

Building a gaming PC

Our generation today surely drowns in the alluring impression of next gen consoles and PC'S. Thinking about the possibilities and games we can play in that 1080p machine of joy I call a second life or 'lives' get it?

Anyway one of our assignments were to produce a presentation where we included our preferred specifications to build a gaming PC. I personally liked the fact that we are given the freedom to choose our recommendations to highlight our passion towards the subject and to GAMES!

I personally recommend PC gaming since a PC gamer would have access to the advanced software and hardware faster than a console gamer would. This would definitely define the words 'NEXT' 'GEN'. For example a PC gamer would go overboard with applying the different specifications in his PC in order to meet the requirements of a single game that the person is passionate about.

To the left are some games I particularly play whether it may be console or PC . <Games are 2kool 4 skool>

Below is my presentation for building a gaming PC! Enjoy.

Introduction

My name is James, I currently study in Deira International School and a part of the International Baccalaureate Careers Certificate program. I am from the Philippines however I've lived in the UAE for 12 years. My hobbies and interests differ from physical sports and e sports such as gaming. I particularly prefer playing basketball on top of all the other sports available in our community and I currently play console games like NBA 2k15 in particular.

I picked ITGS as a subject since it brought interest to my liking as I do play online games on a weekly basis and would like to take part on building a strong background knowledge about modern technology today and how everything works to make our lives easier and to keep us entertained.
While you're at it why don't you check this video out about 'Click baiting' by Sally Kohn!! ENJOY
